SOLD Outstanding Neoclassical Figural Floor Candelabra

We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful outstanding neoclassical figural floor candelabra circa 1867 to 1870s with the foundry being Fourment-Houillence Foundry from Val d’Osne France.  This chandelier cast as a Grecian water carrier is beautiful patina cast iron figure  attired in a flowing robe and floral garland in her right hand.  Her left arm is upraised holding an amphora to which is attached an ornate 13 light brass chandelier.  The center shaft with the three sea form down turn arms each with a single light.  All sockets are enhanced with scrolling leaf tips.  The torchiere/chandelier is attached to a round metal tripod with platform base.  The chandelier is fitted with 13 matching frosted shades each with beautiful floral etch decorations of the period. The figure retains the original bronze type finish and you would swear it is bronze unless you used a magnet.  This French iron foundry was originally named La-Fonderie-Du-Val-d’Osne.  It was founded in 1876 by Jean Pierre Victor Andre (1790-1851).  The foundry was known for being fine designers of garden furniture, fountains and lighting.  They specialized in candelabras and torchieres.  The name was later changed to Fourment-Houillencie in 1876 before another name change in 1870.  The reputation of this company was that it was considered to be the best foundry in France and one of the best foundries in Europe during that time period.  The size: the statue including top most shade is 72 inches high.  The base is 21 inches high.  Overall it is 93 inches high by 28 inches in diameter.  The condition of the surface and figure is very well to excellent.  It is very well patinaed with minor oxidation on the base and brass light fixtures that are minimal in nature.  The shades are very good.  This piece is spectacular.  We will quote shipping based on zip code, so please send us your email to get an accurate quote and discuss shipping options on such a unique piece.
