We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful solid mahogany ball and claw sideboard dating form the 1890s era in original condition. This is a high quality piece as you can tell by the secondary wood which is all quarter sawn oak in the drawers. It is a very expensive wood to be using for drawer bottoms. The top had nicks and dings, so we sanded it down and colored it to match. We also tightened up the sideboard to provide many years of carefree use. It has four 13 inch wide dove tail drawers on both sides of the curved front door and underneath is a large bottom drawer that goes the width of the sideboard that is 48 inches wide on the inside of the drawer. Inside the center is a curved mahogany panel door that opens to reveal a 19 inches deep space and 13 inches high to store your service pieces. It has a one inch bevel glass mirror back board that is supported by solid mahogany tapered pillars with a tiny dainty beaded molding across the top and a routed carved backsplash across the top. The entire piece sits upon four solid mahogany cabriole legs. The front two legs are ball and claw with talon foot and the back two are a simple spade foot leg. We have put a high quality set of castors on the sideboard for ease of movement. It has two keys, one for the doors and one for the drawers. The hardware is all intact and all original solid brass Chippendale pulls. It has a beautiful reddish brown mahogany stain finish. Other than a few age marks in the mirror, the piece is outstanding original. The overall size is 54 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 39 inches high to the base and 60 inches high to the backsplash. I noticed while measuring that both solid plank mahogany sides have a lamination seam, which is very common and does not affect the structure. Shipping starts at $345 for our normal shipping area. Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm shipping as it can increase up to $100 the further from New England you are.
