SOLD Mahogany Governor Winthrop Desk with Ball and Claw Feet

We are pleased to be offering today this governor Winthrop desk that came right out of a home in central Maine.  The overall condition is good with a few minor flaws here and there which are characteristic age marks.  It is a great desk that I believe was made by the Maddox Furniture Company out of New York, but there are no labels or markings as such.  This is a larger size being 36 inches wide.  It has four dove tail ox bow drawer fronts with the original Chippendale hardware intact.  It has ball and claw feet all the way around, mahogany sides and a solid breadboard end writing lid that had an early problem on the right hand side where there is a line.  We can color it in a bit if you remind us at the point of sale.  When you open the slant top lid the supports automatically pull out and it reveals an interior with multi-cubbyholes, drawers, carved door and carved posts.  The height of the writing lid when open is 29 inches from the floor.  We re-sprayed the inside of the writing lid as it always shows wear over the years.  The overall size is 36 inches wide, 21 inches deep and 42 inches high.  There is a small crack on the solid plank side on the right hand side and the left hand side appears to be all good.  A lot of the desk out there have white sides such as popular, but this one is all mahogany.  Shipping starts at $345 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.  Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
