We are pleased to be offering this wonderful mahogany slant top Chippendale governor Winthrop desk with ball and claw feet and an ox bow front. Made by the Maddox Furniture Company out of Jamestown, New York back in the 1930's to 1940's, the top writing lid on this fantastic and desirable piece is solid mahogany with breadboard ends. The top is always nicked and dinged, so we brought it into the restoration shop to redo the inside to remove the nicks and dings. It is in the nice condition now with no nicks or dings. When the slant top lid is opened, the support brackets slide out automatically. Upon opening the lid, you can see a multi-drawer cubby hole interior with a door in the center and two cleverly disguised compartments behind two carved posts on either side of the door. The drawers retain the original Chippendale style hardware, and the drawers are all dove tail. The top drawer features the blue genuine mahogany label says that all the components of the desk are solid mahogany. It has ball and claw feet all the way around to finish off this beautiful desk. The overall size is 34 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 42 inches high overall. It is finished in the dark reddish mahogany stain finish.
