SOLD Antique Victorian Walnut Rare Davenport Cylinder Secretary Desk
We are pleased to be offering today one of the rarest style cylinder secretary desks that they ever made, and I have only ever owned 3 or 4 of them. This one is repurchased out of a home on the east coast. It has a large single glass door, burl panels all around it, gorgeous burl panel cylinder roll that opens to expose a bird’s eye maple drawer and interior, pull out writing surface, and raised panel burl walnut panels on the base. The rare part is that one side of the base has a file cabinet section that is hidden by a burl walnut door that is burl walnut on the side. When you walk around the other side it has four drawers that are all burl accent trim. This is like the Davenport desks that were seen on ships back in the day. In my over 50 years in the business, I have only been fortunate to own this model 3 or 4 times. The crest on top is all spoon carved and is much better than usual. The overall size is 32 inches wide, 23 inches deep and 96 inches high. It just barely fits in with a normal ceiling. It does not come with a key. The three shelves on top are adjustable, being 26.75 inches wide by 9.5 inches deep. It is a nice-looking desk that will be the talk of the office. Shipping starts at $375 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges, which could add on especially if you're on the West Coast.
