SOLD Antique Victorian Burl Walnut Cylinder Secretary Desk

We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful Victorian cylinder burl walnut secretary bookcase desk that dates from the 1880's in original condition.  it has a little more burl than usual for this size model.  It has burl panels, rosette buttons, dome shaped glass, cylinder is burl,drawer is raised panel burl, original Victorian hardware and is finished off with a door in the base with two burl panels.  Burl is on the edge trim of the cylinder section, base on the outside corners, some of the burl is missing on the left hand corner of the panel.  The desk sat near a window, You can see that the front is the same color as the base on the side, but the top on the right side was bleached by the sun over the years.  It is a candidate for refinishing in dark walnut.  It would be gorgeous with all the burl.  The only thing I can see wrong with it is a small piece of molding missing on the corner of the base.  Right between the two raised panel strips on the very face of the crown, the rosette on the center piece of the crown has been replaced.  The overall size is 34 inches wide, 20 deep at the base, 12 inches deep on the bookcase section and 83 inches high.  The bookcase opens up to reveal three adjustable shelves.  When you open the cylinder section it reveals a multi-cubby hole interior and the original green felt on the pull out writing surface.  The overall condition is good coming right out of a local estate in Bangor, Maine.  Shipping starts at $299 for a driveway delivery in our normal area.  Please contact us prior to purchase to confirm freight cost to your area.
