SOLD Antique Victorian Seven Piece Cameo Back Parlor Set

We are pleased to be offering today this hard to find complete seven-piece Victorian cameo back parlor set that dates from the 1880s. It consists of a cameo sofa, oversize gents’ armchair, oversize ladies chair and four matching parlor chairs. The finish on the woodwork is all original. It has routed carvings all the way around, carved crests that are all intact, and cabriole front legs. The gents chair, ladies chair and sofa have the original white porcelain castors. The set is all buttoned and pleated. The only thing that is surprising is that two of the side chairs are a bit darker red than the rest of the set. I’m not sure why, but likely to match a certain shade in a particular room. The chairs have big bold hip huggers. Carved knuckles on the arms and a big cameo back on all the backs. The upholstery is in good condition with no rips, tears or stains. The upholstery could use a good brushing or shampoo to refreshen the fabric. The wooden frames have the original finish that is in nice condition. The overall size of the sofa is 55 inches wide, 40 inches wide between the arms, 20 inches deep on the cushion, 41 inches high to the carved crest, 32 inches high to the outside corners of the frame, 24 inches high to the arms and 16 inches high to the seat. The gent’s chair is 27 inches wide, 22 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 23 inches deep, 45 inches high to the carved crest, 24 inches high to the arms and 17 inches high to the seat. The arm rests are upholstered. It has carved front knuckles, medallion back and a large carved crest on the back. The lady’s chair is 24 inches across, 22 inches deep, 42 inches high to the carved crest, and 17 inches high to the seat. The four parlor chairs 19 inches wide, 15 inches wide between the hip rests, 17 inches on the round seat, 39 inches high to the carved crest, and 18 inches high to the seat. The set is in good usable condition. We were fortunate to find a complete matching set including a cameo sofa, ladies chair, gent’s chair and four parlor chairs that were not broken up.
