This is a beautiful raised panel French Victorian carved bed that dates from the 1890s in wonderful condition. It features a dark oak stain, shapely raised panels in the headboard and footboard, along with a carved circular design on the base footboard, carved acanthus leaves on all four legs, and the wonderful heavy wraparound molded top that is 2 inches thick. The headboard has a great solid oak carved crest in the clamshell design, and is in nice shape. The overall size is 61 inches wide, 41 inches high on the footboard, and 61 inches high on the headboard. The inside dimensions, for mattress purposes, are 79 inches long on the side rails, and52 inches wide. There is a small piece of the carving missing on the carved crest, but other than that, it’s in great condition with only minor nicks and dings. The side rails are terrific, carved just like the footboard.
