SOLD Antique Victorian Civil War Era Carved Sofa
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful solid black walnut hand carved grape back with leaves sofa that was made around the civil war era of the 1860s. It is a great little sofa that came out of a local Maine home. Someone had put an antique replacement yellow crush velour upholstery in the last 20 years or so. It appears like they may have pumped up the padding when it was reupholstered. The frame is in the original finish in the dark walnut stain. It has a great crest on the back with the hand carved berries and leaves in the center. As it swoops down in the back it follows into a upholstered curved arm with a hand carved front face on the legs and skirt. It is a nice usable sofa. The upholstery is usable, but we find most people like to have them reupholstered to fit their particular decor. The sofa is 67 inches wide on the outside, 48 inches wide inside the arms, 20 inches deep, 37 inches high to the top of the carved crest, 23 inches high to the arm and 19 inches high to the seat. It comes with castors. It is in very usable condition. Shipping starts at $385 for a driveway delivery in our normal area. Please contact us to confirm that you are within our normal area.
