In the Spanish style, this is a heavily carved solid black walnut chair with a cane back that is most unusual. It is extra-tall and fancy, all good, with a red crushed velour seat, wonderful fluted vase type Spanish foot legs, and look at the cross stretcher: it comes together with a big center finial that a marble top table would die for. The only thing that keeps this chair from being a $900 chair is that someone poked two holes in the cane on the right hand side. I’ve seen people put fabric right over the cane and make a chair look like new. Other than the cane, this chair is in outstanding condition for a chair dating from the 1890s. The overall size is 22 inches across, 20 inches deep, 54 inches to the top of the chair, and 20 inches to the seat.
