SOLD Antique Rocking Chair, Antique Victorian Platform Rocker Rope Twist by Hunzinger
We are pleased to be offering this wonderful original-finish rope twisted platform rocker to you today. Made by George Hunzinger back in the 1880s era, you can tell this is a Hunzinger by the unusual platform spring mechanism that connects the base to the top. The chair is either a light brown walnut, which is what I believe the frame is, but it is all barley twist or rope twisted, so it's hard to be sure. It has an antique style yellow fabric upholstery that is in pretty good shape. The upholstery could use a good cleaning and the chair would look fantastic in leather upholstery. The rope/barley twist on all the wood is unbelievable; it's even on the cross stretchers! It has a high back and is a bit bigger than normal. It has carved out arms -- that is unique. The back has a semi-circle with barley twists below the pillar back. The overall size is 29 inches wide on the outside of the arms, 22 inches wide on the inside of the arms, 23 inches deep, 44 inches high to the chair back, 24 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. It is a great chair. We haven’t had a Hunzinger rocker for a long time as they are becoming scarcer. Shipping starts at $195 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area. Outside the normal area will incur additional delivery charges. Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to obtain a quote for shipping outside of New England.
