This antique Hunzinger platform rocking chair maintains its original finish over the walnut construction. This Victorian platform rocker was designed and sold by George Hunzinger Furniture Company from Philadelphia, PA. Dating right out of the 1880s, this chair is easily identified by the patented platform rocker mechanism at the bottom of the chair. Hunzinger loved funky turnings, and has designed this chair with acorn finial tops, barley twist and honey comb and center cross stretcher, barley twist posts, barley twist arm supports and trims, and of course the signature platform base, all in solid black walnut. This chair is in its original finish, with just the normal nicks and dings that are to be expected from a 140 year old piece. The upholstery is not original.
The overall size across the outside of the arms is 21 inches wide, inside of the arms is 18 inches wide, from the front to the back is 20 inches deep on the seat, to the top of the finial posts is 39 inches tall, the height to the arm is 24 as it sits, and the height to the front of the seat is 17 inches and 16 inches to the back. Hunzinger is getting harder and harder to find, so snatch this up while you can!
