SOLD Antique Marble Top Sideboard, Victorian, Solid Black Walnut

This antique marble top sideboard is constructed of solid black walnut, and dates from the late 1860s civil war era to 1870s, early Victorian era. This stately antique sideboard features solid black walnut construction with beautiful burl walnut oval veneer accent panels, pierce carved details, and is capped off by a solid back walnut hand carved crest with pierce carvings on a crown molded top, and a fruit and nuts carved detail flanked by shapely burl walnut panels.

The base of this antique marble top sideboard has desirable panel sides, and more burl walnut accent panels on the doors and drawers, and an applied multi-bevel edge heavy-bracket base. There are two dovetail drawers, the one on the right is lined with green felt, and partitioned for your silver storage. Open the burl-paneled doors to reveal more storage space - each side has one removeable shelf. The original white and grey grained marble top has a nice bevel edge - there is some small staining on the top, but it's to be expected on an original piece this old, and most people would not even mention it. This antique sideboard does come with a key, but we do not guarantee locks on any old pieces, as they are as temperamental as the weather in Maine in the springtime.

This piece is a great example of early Victorian furniture, and is from one of our favorite time periods here at Maine Antique Furniture. There are a couple of cracks in the pierce carvings, an old repair, a bubble in the oval veneer on the backsplash, and a chip on the bottom left door that must have hit up against something a few times. None of these are a big deal, but we like to mention it just to be clear. Remind us at the time of sale, and we'll detail them out for you.

This solid black walnut antique marble top sideboard measures 51 inches wide, 21 inches deep, 83 inches tall, 38 1/2 inches tall from the floor to the marble top. From the marble top to the shelf is 20 inches and inside the door is a removable shelf that currently measures about 13 inches in the bottom section, 10 inches on the top section and about 16 inches deep.
