SOLD Antique Carved Oak Sideboard w/ Mirror Cabinet & Winged Griffins- Horner Style
We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful heavily carved oak sideboard from the 1890's. We believe this to be in the style of R.J. Horner of New York. It is a two piece cabinet.
The upper case features a paneled mirror back. The crest has a carved Northwind head flanked by carved scrolling leaf tips above a central glass display cabinet with glass paneled doors and mirror back. The cabinet is flanked by open display shelves; each with a mirror back and spiral twist colonettes with foliate carved turnings. All supported by full body seated winged lions centering a beveled mirror plate.
The lower case features a rectangular quarter sawn gadrooned edge fitted with a central drawer above a pair of bowed doors over a single drawer, all profusely foliate carved, flanked by a pair of panel doors with applied foliate carved cartouches, raised on four carved claw feet.
The overall size is 72 inches wide by 26 inches deep and overall height 87 inches. Overall condition is nice with an older refinish and complete hardware.
