SOLD Antique Bookcase, Victorian Double Door Carved Walnut Cabinet

This wonderful Victorian Bookcase is solid black walnut, and features double doors and a wonderful carved crest on the top of the bookcase. This antique cabinet also has carved handles on the picture frame molded double drawer base, and the piece dates from the 1860s to 1870s. There was a time about 40 years ago where it wasn’t so uncommon to find an antique bookcase like this in the original finish, but it is getting harder and harder every day. This antique bookcase does maintain its original finish as well as the original wavy glass in the doors. Most houses removed the crest, and we are pleased with the originality of this piece.  As I sit in front of this step back bookcase to describe it, the wavy glass is so beautiful.  Behind the doors are four adjustable shelves.  It has an ogee bracket base, two hand cut dovetail picture frame molded drawers with carved handles, ogee bevel edge on the top of the base, crown molding on the top with a wonderful crest.  The overall size of this antique bookcase is 46 inches wide at the base, 43 inches wide on the bookcase, 17 inches deep on the base, 12 inches deep on the bookcase, 15 inches high on the base and the overall height is 92 inches.  Just to give you an idea how nice this crest is, it is approximately 14 inches high!  It does not have a key, but all the locks are there.  The shelves, finish and locks are original.  It has come apart a bit on the back board, but it could be moved over a bit.  Shipping starts at $395 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.
