This antique bookcase is constructed of tiger sawn oak and dates from the 1890s. Folks, we just had a truckload of bookcases come in — we are in love with every single one of them, and this one is no exception! Constructed by Paine, and still retaining the original tag on the back, the finish on this is wonderful original, aged to a stunning patina. The stain is dark, and highlights the grains of the wood very nicely. Acanthus carved posts flank both sides of this antique bookcase. The doors feature original lock details (for looks only, there’s no key) and an ogee detail frames the glass on the two sliding doors. The front feet are the desirable claw foot, and are carved in nice detail, and there is an attractive egg and dart molding that lines the top of the case.
The absolute best-for-last feature of this bookcase are the sliding glass doors!! They slide right open to expose the three-shelf interior. We were so excited to get this bookcase off the truck because sliding doors are so desirable, and we know this antique bookcase will be snatched up in no time.
The shelves are fully adjustable and measure 11 inches deep. The overall size is 54” long x 17.5 inches deep x 55” long.
This antique glass door bookcase just drips quality. We’re happy to be offering it today.
