Rare Set of 6 Antique King Edward Pressback Dining Chairs – c.1900s #22614

This very, very unusual set of antique pressback dining chairs dating from the early 1900s, featuring what we believe to be King Edward carved into the crest of each chair. This remarkable set consists of six matching chairs with beautifully detailed carved backs, floral and foliate presswork, turned spindle supports, and turned stretchers.

Over 55 years in the antique business and after purchasing well over 15,000 chairs, we would have to say we have only owned around 20 of this particular example. We are selling off part of some of our more rare collections, and have decided to offer this fine set of chairs for sale.

The chairs retain a warm refinished surface from approximately 10 years ago and still present beautifully today with rich antique character throughout.

Condition:

Overall condition is good. One seat had a small flaw/spot which will be corrected before shipping. The chairs were refinished approximately 10 years ago and still present very nicely overall. They show typical minor age-appropriate wear consistent with use and age.
