Date: Circa 1880
Wood: Mahogany with Burl Walnut Accents
Dimensions: 62” W × 23” D × 95” H
Marble Height: 37”
Upper Section Width: 58”
An exceptional circa 1880 Victorian walnut sideboard retaining its beautiful original finish and loaded with architectural and carved detail. Standing an impressive 95 inches tall, this substantial piece features a richly patinated mahogany case, burl walnut panel doors, carved lion panels, extensive turned and carved decoration, mirrors, display shelves, and its original pink marble top.
The upper section is especially impressive, with a tall central gallery flanked by open display shelves and supported by substantial turned columns. Delicate ball-spindle galleries run across the upper portions, while carved and molded details continue throughout the entire piece.
One of the most distinctive features is the pair of deeply carved lion panels positioned on either side of the central mirror. Each depicts a lion among foliage and gives the sideboard a wonderfully unusual Victorian character.
Below is a beautiful pink marble serving surface measuring approximately 62 inches wide. The marble works particularly well with the warm, aged color and patina of the original mahogany finish.
The lower cabinet provides excellent storage with two drawers above two large paneled doors. The doors feature striking raised burl walnut panels surrounded by substantial mahogany moldings, with additional burl walnut used through the center section.
This is a large, highly decorative Victorian sideboard with wonderful presence and an unusually strong combination of carved detail, burl wood, marble, mirrors, galleries, and original finish.

On the right side, a trim/side piece adjacent to the marble had come loose and has been glued and reset. The repair is complete and the piece is ready for use.
No key is included. As with all antique locks, we do not guarantee the operation of the locks even when a key is present.
