SOLD Antique Hall Bench, Carved Oak Oversize Bench with Full Body Lions

This antique hall bench features solid tiger sawn oak, and is unbelievably heavily carved, with a great lift seat. This antique hall bench dates from the 1880s era and maintains its wonderful old original dark oak finish. This antique bench is of such nice quality being made by Paine as confirmed by the old paper label on the back. Paine Furniture Company was well known for its high-quality stylish furniture. This has a lot of European style, but it is American based on construction. Look at the full body lions on top of the crest with a crown center, big bold solid oak acanthus carved finials on each side, triple carved panel in the center, carved arms and carving all over. Lifting the hall seat cover is a chore as it is so heavy. I almost wanted to strip this piece and refinish it in a medium oak finish because it is such a stunning piece, but a lot of people like original finish and this is nice original finish. The overall size is 55 inches wide, 21 inches deep on the seat, 19 inches high to the seat, 29 inches high to the arms and 73 inches high overall. The lion itself is 15 inches tall on each side. I hope it photographs well. It has carving on the sides. We glued it up, tightened it up and replaced a small piece of molding. It is now ready to go right into the home upon arrival.
