SOLD Antique Chippendale Style Bench-Made Carved Mahogany Ball and Claw Foot Desk
A CHIPPENDALE STYLE BENCH-MADE CARVED MAHOGANY BALL & CLAW FOOT DESK. Late 20th century. An unusual example with raised gallery, fitted with a row of hooded valance pigeonholes over four banks of two drawers centering a prospect door above a demilune pen drawer flanked by vertical document drawers with engaged column door fronts. The writing surface with shallow shaped molded edge and gadrooned molding, framed by a full gallery at the sides. The entire upper section slides forward on the table base which in turn is fitted with a pair of aligned drawers with cock beaded moldings raised on cabriole legs with scrolled acanthus leaf returns terminating in well defined ball and claw feet.
