SOLD Antique China Cabinet, Antique Heavily Carved Lion Head China Closet – ATTR to Horner #21145

We are pleased to be offering this tiger sawn oak china closet to you today. Dating from the turn of the century, this fine piece features its original finish, fluted carved columns, claw feet, large lion heads and a lion head carved crest, and serpentine glass. In the style of R.J. Horner, this closet comes with four glass shelves, a full mirror back and it is extra-large. Measuring 50 inches wide, 18 inches deep and 73 inches high, take a look at the pictures to see the gorgeous old finish and patina.  It comes with the original key, and appears to have the original glass. The china closet door is a double S serpentine and is very expensive and rare to find in china closets.  One of the hinges is bent and we will replace it with a reproduction. There is some chipping on the edge of 1 glass shelf as shown in the photos.  We could get a price for a brand-new plate-glass shelf if you so desire, but they normally average $80.00. The cabinet has a multi-crown molded top with heavily carved in a wave-type molding with fleur-de-lis across the tops of the lion heads. In the center of the serpentine top is a north wind or lion head face. Underneath the serpentine door that are two new pieces of small trim that appears to have done by someone who knew what they were doing on the inside of the claw feet.  Dating from the 1890s era, this piece is in amazing, truly nice, original condition.  The height of the shelves from the bottom of the inside of the china closet are 14 inches, 25 inches, 36 inches and 46 inches high. The shelves are brackets screwed in a fixed location, but I'm sure they could be removed and screwed in elsewhere if need be.  Shipping starts at $425 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.
