We are pleased to be offering today a wonderful custom made box of solid black walnut with burl walnut panels decorative on the sides and on the interior. It has a burl walnut top. Most likely this box was custom made by a talented cabinetmaker. I am guessing that he either fabricated the parts or used scraps from another piece of furniture that was in the shop where he was employed. It dates from the Victorian era of the 1860s to 1870s. The cover lifts off with a carved walnut handle and it flips back on four tiny screws that hold the hinge in place. It does need some larger screws to hold the lid in place, which we will do prior to shipping. The inside tray lifts off like you would see in a jewelry box or a sewing box. It has burl walnut sides and a deep dish compartment of a laptop desk from the Civil War Era. It is really nice. It is 14.5 inches wide, 11 inches deep and 5.5 inches high overall. It has a beautiful finish. Shipping is $18.
