SOLD Victorian Renaissance Marble Top Princess Dresser – RARE

We are pleased to be offering today this renaissance heavily burl very rare Victorian piece that we call a princess dresser in the business. In my over 50 years in the business, this is only the third time I have owned this model. I wish my house was Victorian because I would keep it. It came right out of a coastal home. It is untouched as all we did was wipe it down. There are tiny flaws, but nothing seriously wrong with it. It is in the original finish and would probably French polish out nicely. It has the normal nicks and dings that you would expect from a piece of furniture dating from the Victorian era. It even has the original hard to find hardware. The only thing wrong with it other than the age marks on the mirror, is that there is no key. I am sure you could locate a key somewhere. The pictures cannot do this piece justice. It dates from the 1870s to 1880s era. The overall size is 51 inches wide across the mirror, 91 inches high overall, 72 inches across the two marble pedestals, 33 inches high to the marble and 23 inches deep. The looking glass is 61 inches tall and 22 inches wide. A princess dresser was made so the female in the home got all dressed up, she could walk up and view herself all the way around. The drawers are slanted at an angle and are all original with burl octagon posts and big round bun feet. Other than the normal nicks and dings, it is beautiful. The looking glass has a few spots where the silver is worn off the back. I would not replace it as the mirror is original and the silver loss adds charm and character to the dresser. The only thing I would do to this rare renaissance piece is that I would have a quality polish job done so that it would look like it did out of the factory back in the day. Last model like this I had was a Jelliff, but I believe this one could be a Brooks. The mirror comes off the back, so it is a three-piece unit to ship.
