We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful little bur walnut Victorian dainty and petite civil war era walnut ladies slant top desk that dates from the 1860s to 1870s. What a nice looking desk! When it came in all we did was tighten it up, leave the flaws in the finish, sanded, stained and applied satin sheen lacquer for a beautiful finish. The felt on the slant top lid has been replaced. We have left some character marks like with a small piece of the handle that is missing, but barely noticeable. We also left a little piece of molding that has a sliver on the left back. The overall size is 23.5 inches wide at the base, 17 inches deep, 30 inches high on the base and 47 inches high overall. The burl walnut raised panel lid with the key it reveals a simplistic cubby hole interior with double drawer and the replaced antique red felt writing surface. Hand cut dove tails are to be expected on a piece of this age. The size of the writing slant top section is 12 inches deep on the bottom and 6 inches deep on top. It has dainty fluted legs with ball accent pieces. It is a cute little piece of Victoriana. Shipping starts at $165 for a driveway delivery in our normal area.
