SOLD Victorian Carved Oak Bevel Glass Mirror Hotel Commode
We are pleased to be offering today this original old finish oak bevel glass mirror hotel commode that dates from the 1890’s to 1900’s in original condition. It shows the age with one door has a couple small cracks in the panel that has nothing to do with the structure. The construction of this type of oak always showed the flaws and imperfections. The carvings is intact, original hardware is intact and the original bevel glass mirror is intact showing age streaks. They call this a hotel commode because underneath the mirror is a bar to hang your towels, put your pitcher and bowl on the top and you put your slop jar or oversize Texas coffee cup in the base. It was a one stop shop on this one area. These were real popular in hotels as they replaced many pieces. You can see the finish on the top shows where things sat on it over the years. The overall size is 32 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 30.5 inches high to the top of the base, 40 inches high for the mirror and the total height is 70 inches tall. The mirror is 22 inches wide by 13 inches tall. It is a great piece. Shipping starts at $235 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.
