We are offering today a beautiful Victorian half-tester bed that dates from the 1880's in wonderful condition. The bed frame has a carved crest over a serpentine front on the tester that supported by scrolling brackets joined to the octagonal posts, the headboard with a cabochon-carved cartouche over a pair of figural arched panels, the arched footboard with a molded top rail. The overall size is: 106 inches in height, the inside dimensions are 60 inches wide by 77 inches in length. The outside dimensions are 64 inches wide by 87 inches in length.
Overall condition report as follows:
*In good, sturdy condition. The canopy has a surface blemish to the finish on the front left side of the frieze. The posts have been reduced in height at one time. The scrolled brackets appear to be later replacements. Minor dings to the rails from age and use. Retains a pleasing, old refinished surface and patina.
Note: The inside dimensions are very close to queen size. It may fit a queen size with some alterations to the corners of the box spring to fit around the bed posts.
