We are pleased to be offering today this great set of 4 period Empire flame mahogany Civil War era chairs. It is a great set that came out of an east coast estate. They have a flame mahogany back with a hand carved floral crest, multi turn dainty spindles (6 on each chair), flared back leg, saber style front leg and serpentine skirt with flame mahogany veneer. The chairs came right of the home where they have sat for the last 170 years. They are in amazing condition. We haven’t done anything, but oil them up. The fabric is a real old fabric that is worn and you would likely want reupholstered. So basically you are getting the chair frames and the slip seats are easily recovered. The overall condition of the chairs are real nice. I am sure they will need gluing sooner or later, but they are usable as is. There are no major breaks . There are a couple of small cracks, but that is to be expected of chairs this age. The overall size is 18 inches wide, 16 inches deep, 34 inches high to the crest and 18 inches high to the well padded seats. It is a great period set.
