We are pleased to be offering today this burl walnut Victorian renaissance gentleman’s arm chair that is a tribute to John Jelliff. It dates from the 1870s to 1880s and came right out of an east coast estate. It is in really nice condition with the old time fabric style that someone put on most likely later in life. The fabric looks nice against the patina of the solid walnut frame. There is what appears to be a water stain on the seat that I believe would clean out. The chair has the Jenny Lind head on the top, ladies or maidens on the arms and burl walnut skirted trim under the seat. The multi-turn legs retain the original old castors. The burl walnut seems to be all good. The overall size is 28 inches across the outside of the arms, 20 inches wide across the seat, 24 inches deep, 42 inches high to the chair back, 24 inches high to the arms and 17.5 inches high to the seat.
