SOLD Inlaid Victorian Demi Lune Game Table

We are pleased to be offering today this Victorian age mahogany heavily but gracefully inlaid demi lune game table that probably dates from the 1870s to 1880s.  It is a beautiful piece in the dark old finish.  It has bow tie inlaid across the front with bell shape tapered legs.  It has a fan shell carving on the top.  All the inlaid appears to be maple against a cross band mahogany that is finished to a real dark finish.  When you flip out the top and  pull out the support leg, it exposes the original felt top that is still very usable.  The good thing about this game table is that someone has never flipped the top back and broke it, which happens more than you would think.   The only thing wrong with the game table is that a small piece of the pin stripe inlaid is missing and a couple tiny pieces of veneer are missing on top of the straight grain  mahogany.  All the inlaid on the legs and skirt are really nice.  We will detail the missing inlaid and veneer prior to shipping if you remind us at the time of the sale.  The nice thing about game tables is that they are three pieces of furniture in one.  You can keep it closed for a nice demi lune hall table, you can flip up the lid against a wall to create a display for a leaded lamp or vase of flowers and finally you can flip the lid down on the support leg and use it play a riveting game of chess or checkers.  When it is closed up it is 36 inches wide, 19 inches deep and 31 inches high.  When you pull the leg out, it reveals a drawer to keep all your game pieces in.  When the lid is flipped down onto the support leg, the table is 36 inches round. There is a couple of cup water marks on the  felt top, which is normal.  The felt is the original.  It is a great table that would be one of the best game tables I have even seen if it was refinished.  It even has mother of pearl on the fan shell carving.  It is a great piece.  Shipping estimates starts at $235.00-$275.00 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.
