We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful example of period pre-civil war flame mahogany empire as displayed in this gorgeous secretary bookcase desk. Dating from the 1840s, it is in the original finish. It has some veneer chips on it that we are going through to touch up to the best of our ability. You will be able to tell that they were touched up, but it won’t be offensive. It will be a nice look. For the age, it is in unbelievable condition. It has mirrors on the doors on top and I am not sure if they are original or not, but they are old mirrors. It has a shapely scallop frame around the mirrors, ribbon molding across the top and it original had it on both sides of the crown molding on top, but it is missing. On the front it is all intact. It has three small hand cut constructed drawers underneath the two doors. Then a flip down lid that is supported with pull outs. It has old felt in it that we will leave in place. It has three drawers beneath the lid. It has dainty molding across the end and plank sides. The overall size is 43 inches wide, 22 inches deep on the base, 12 inches deep on the top section, 34 inches high to the base, 32 inches high to the writing surface when flipped out and the overall height is 78 inches high. It is a great cabinet with minor issues like all period empire does. It is a great piece in the original dark reddish brown stain finish.
