SOLD Art Deco Burl Walnut Cedar Chest by Lane

We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful art deco style cedar chest in burl walnut made by the Lane Furniture Company out of Alta Vista, Virginia back in the 1940s to 1950s.  The cool thing about this cedar chest is that it has the patent numbers, dates, burnt in Lane logo and it even has the original moth insurance policy that they would pay $250 damage if your clothes got damaged by moths, because they believed in their cedar lined cedar chests.  It has carved knuckle footed base, great burl walnut matching panel waterfall front top and it is in really nice condition.  The top has normal surface scratches in it that we will scuff down and re-spray for the buyer if they so desire.  Some people like it original, so we leave it alone.  The lock has been disabled so it does not work.  I believe if you apply to the Lane Cedar Chest Company when you become the owner, they will send you a replacement lock.  The old ones were banned because if a young child got inside then they could not get back out.  So the lock is disabled for safety sake and a replacement can be found.  When you open up the roll front top it reveal cedar lined cavity with a triple section on top for jewelry and small items in.  The size of the interior is 44.5 inches wide, 16.5 inches deep and 13 inches high.  The outside dimensions are 48 inches wide, 19 inches deep and 23 inches high.  Other than the surface scratches on top, there is a fleck of veneer missing off one side that we should be able to detail out for the buyer if you remind us at the time of the sale.  It is a great looking cabinet that is better than normal with notch molding and gingerbread applied carving.  We used to sell a lot of these, but they are definitely most scarce now a days.  This one is in the beautiful brown amber color.  Shipping starts at $99 for a driveway delivery in our normal area which is New England.  Please contact us prior to purchase with your zip code to confirm what it would cost you if outside of New England for shipping.
