SOLD Antique Writing Desk, Victorian Renaissance Parlor Writing Table
This Antique Renaissance Parlor Table or Writing Desk dates from the 1870s and is a great example of a Victorian Writing Table. It is a great quality oversized writing table in beautiful original condition. The ends of this Victorian writing table are simply stunning, and is a lot larger than normal for this style of antique writing table. It measures 52 inches wide, 29 inches deep and 30 inches high. The Victorian piece comes with a large drawer that is divided inside for pens and writing materials. Right before we bought it, the owner had someone put a green felt on it that looks okay but we think it would look best with a new leather insert top. This antique writing desk has pierce carved sides, dainty turned finials on each corner block, incised carving on the top, and a heavy carved escutcheon on the drawer. The drawer does not have a key.
The bottom cross stretcher is a work of art that joins the two wonderful sides of this Antique Writing Desk together for style and sturdiness. It is in the original finish that we have polished up. A dark red leather insert in the table top would be stunning against the patina of this table. Shipping starts at $295 for a driveway delivery in our normal New England delivery area.
