SOLD Antique Victorian Walnut Gentleman's Chair with Burl and Carving
Made of solid black walnut with burl accents, this Victorian parlor chair is an oversized lady’s version, and dates from the 1870s era. The only thing I can see wrong with it is that right on the very top of the center crest there is a little tiny tip missing, and other than that it is in outstanding condition. The finish is superb, and all we did is polish the age-old patina to a fine sheen. It has burl walnut panels in the back, an oval burl walnut panel in the center, a carved crest with carvings on either side of the oval panel, finger carvings down the sides and into the hip rests, down into the cabriole carved legs and the round skirt. The fabric is an antique yellow beige, and is in really good condition. It looks like it’s been replaced in the past few years. The overall size is 23 inches across, 23 inches deep, 41 inches to the top of the chair back, and 18 inches to the seat.
