We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful set of five solid tiger sawn oak spindle back press back dining chairs with a much wider back than normal. The back is nine inches high and has a hand hold in the center! The chairs have the hip rests, which make them even more sturdy. The chairs features a double stretcher of turned oak on the base as well. The chairs date from the 1890s to 1900. They were refinished a long time and the finish is worn, so they could stand to be refinished again but also looks fine as they are. It appears like someone has started to replace the cane. Four of the chairs look like they have newer cane on them and one chair has damaged cane. Four seats are good and one can be sat in, but it has a deflated (not meant in the Patriot's way) cane seat, the cane is pressed cane and easy to replace. The chairs show age from the old characteristics of the nail holes where someone has an upholstered seat on the chairs at one time. The finish is faded here and there and do show normal nicks and dings. They feature an H cross stretcher with two cross turn oak dowels for extra strength and style, one piece flared back leg, cabriole front leg and a scallop front seat. The chairs are 18 inches wide at the seat, 16 inches deep, 41 inches high to the back and 18 inches high to the seat. Shipping starts at $249 for a driveway delivery in our normal shipping area. Please contact us to discuss shipping so we can confirm if you are in our normal area and optional white glove delivery available in most areas for an additional charge.
