SOLD Antique Victorian Raised Panel Roll Top Desk 72" Long w/ Great History

We are pleased to be offering today this magnificent original finish Victorian roll top desk, crafted from rich mahogany with intricate raised panels and custom-made by the Sellew Desk Company out of New York. This exceptional desk, dating from the 1880s-1890s, was originally owned by Charles Henry Davis, a pivotal figure in the establishment of the National Highway Association infrastructure. The desk's historical significance is documented in a complete print-out book, including an original photo showing the desk in Davis's office. This book is included in the left-hand drawer.

The tambour roll opens to reveal a meticulously crafted interior with a molded door, a large drawer, six small drawers, a panel door with a shelf interior, and carved pencil trays.

Pull-Out Writing Surface: The desk includes a pull-out writing surface with original green felt intact, though the blue felt on the main writing surface may not be original.

Design for Display: The desk is side-locking with a key and features raised panels on all sides, making it perfect for displaying in the center of a room.

Dimensions: 72 inches wide, 40 inches deep, 53.5 inches high to the top, and 32 inches high to the writing surface. The chair space measures 34 inches wide by 30 inches high. Drawers are 12 inches wide, 31 inches deep, and 4 inches high. The bottom file cabinet drawer is 12 inches high.

Condition and Refinishing:
