SOLD Antique Victorian Carved Tiger Oak Hall Tree – XL Size, Serpent Carvings – 1890s

This massive and masterfully carved Victorian hall tree is one of the best we’ve come across in years — and for those of you who don't follow us and already know, we've been selling antiques for well over 50 years. Crafted from boldly figured tiger sawn oak, this piece is larger than most and loaded with detail, elegance, and presence.
Dating from the 1890s, it features early Art Nouveau lines, shapely bevel glass, and highly detailed carvings throughout. Look closely near the top — the carvings flanking the upper hooks appear to be stylized serpents, which adds a pretty unique mythical touch.
At the very top sits a column crowned with a torch finial, which rests above a pineapple-shaped base, a traditional symbol of welcome. Below, the hall tree includes a lift-top seat, sculpted claw feet, and matching Victorian cast iron hooks.
Best of all, this piece retains its original finish with an aged patina that’s simply beautiful — warm, rich, and untouched.
