SOLD Antique Unusual Tiger Sawn Oak Desk – One of a Kind

We are pleased to be offering today this one-of-a-kind bench made tiger sawn oak flat top desk that in my 52 years of being in the business I have never seen one before. This desk from the 1900-1905 era is very unique with a unique configuration of drawers that are various sizes and go all the way across – 24 inches deep!

The left-hand and right-hand sides each have a pull out writing surface, four drawers that are 5 inches wide inside, 24 inches deep, 8 inch wide drawer face with 5 inches side walls and the drawer underneath is 12.5 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 4 inches high. The center drawers are 11 inches wide and 2.5 inches high.

There are a total of 12 hand cut dove tail drawers for storage. The two center drawers on top have locks and the two bottom drawers have locks, but we do not have a key for the desk. The handles are one of a kind and all are intact except for 2 with damage and one has a little chip. I am sure they can be made by a cabinet shop. The eight matching drawers have an ID brass card index to label what is stored. The top has an insert simulated top that can easily be replaced with fabric of your choice. The top has a wide ogee picture frame edge that is approximately 4 inches wide. The desk is 60 inches wide, 31 inches deep and 29.5 inches high. The space for your legs is 24 inches wide by 24 inches high. I believe this desk was a bench made, meaning custom piece. It has raised panels on all the drawers. It is finished all the way around so that it can be left out in the middle of an office. There is a heavy coat of clear coat with wear on the top from use. There were three splits on the top picture frame around the insert top that we repaired with oak slivers and colored to match. Other than the handle damage, it is in wonderful condition.
