This antique sideboard is outstanding! It dates from the 1890s, and is of tiger sawn oak construction. Carved columns flank what appears to be the original bevel glass mirror, atop a sturdy, carved blockfront base. This is a better than average piece, in great original condition - you can always tell a quality piece when the secondary wood is also oak, and the secondary wood on this antique sideboard is not only of oak, but also bird's eye maple - a sure sign of quality! This piece maintains its original finish, and is very heavy and sturdy. It offers up a plethora of storage: two drawers just under the buffet surface, the one on the right has a divided drawer for silverware. The four cabinet-doors open to reveal shelved storage, and there is a large drawer at the base that provides even more storage space. The base is flanked by more carved pillars that lead into some of the most attractively large claw feet we've seen recently. There are a couple of small chips and a teeny bit of finish loss, but overall, this antique oak sideboard is in great condition. Measuring 60 wide x 24 deep x height to the top of the base 38 inches, 65 inches tall.
