SOLD Antique Oak Roll Top Desk – Tiger Sawn, Raised Panel, Carved Handles – 1890s
Offered today is this oak roll top desk in original finish, dating from the 1890s. Constructed from tiger sawn oak with a raised panel design, this is our favorite style of desk to buy and sell. It features a great-looking tambour roll top when closed, carved handles, and an original finish in good condition, with the normal nicks and dings that come with age.
The right side of the desk holds four dovetail drawers, while the left side appears to have four drawers but the bottom two are actually configured for files. The center drawer also has carved handles, and there are pullout writing surfaces above both drawer banks. The desk is surrounded by 32 raised panels, so it can be placed in the center of a room or against a wall.
The tambour roll top opens to reveal multi-draw storage with the same carved handles that are featured on the exterior desk drawers, and multi-file storage as well. Take a look at the photos to see for yourself!
