Last Quarter 19th century. American. The chairs have been upholstered in a rich chestnut brown soft leather. The backs are tufted. All with hammered brass tack borders. The high quality of this set in terms of design, construction, and craftsmanship, is reminiscent of products from R.J. Horner and other top furniture craftsman in major cities at the turn of the century.  Each chair with wide crestrail elaborately carved with scrolling leaves centering a shield form cartouche. The stiles each with rolled tops above a molded panel carved with a row of incised diamonds, joined to a freestanding reeded column on a blocked base centering the tufted rectangular back panel.  The over-upholstered seat raised on block and ring turned tapered reeded front legs joined to a serpentine x-form stretcher with molded disc finial. The front legs raised on carved paw feet terminating in casters, the rear legs slightly backswept.  SIZE:  20” W x 22” D x 44 ½” H. Height of seat: 19” CONDITION: Very fine. Refurbished and re-polished within the last 20 years and the chairs have aged to a beautiful mellow color.  Chair frames are primarily high-quality quarter sawn oak. In great condition with the exception of one chair that the family had knocked over and broke the back but it has been professionally repaired and now is all sturdy but signs of the back posts being repaired. Cost of shipping to the New England states will be $325.00 and outside New England email us your zip code for an accurate for your area.
