SOLD Antique Commode, Antique Victorian Burl Walnut Marble Top Washstand
We are pleased to be offering this beautiful Victorian burl walnut marble top washstand to you today. Featuring the original 9.5-inch-tall candle shelf backsplash, this commode dates from the 1880's. It has white and gray grained marble with a 45-degree angle corner top, a multi-bevel edge on the marble top, and a candle shelf on the right-hand side. As you look at the commode, there is a small chip in the back, where most likely the screw comes through, and someone got rambunctious putting it together at one point. It could be filled if so desired. The drawers retain tear drop pulls that appear to be a mismatched but are vintage. It has burl walnut panels on the dove tail drawer with wonderful carved keyhole escutcheon or center shield that is unique. It has carved column posts. Overall condition is good with minor veneer chips on the burl accent trims on the door panels and drawer panels. It came right out of a home in the dark stain finish. The overall size is 29 inches wide, 17 inches deep, 28 inches high to the marble top and 38 inches high to the marble top backsplash. The right-hand door was swung open to hard so that it cracked it was previously repaired. This is a normal occurrence on pieces of this age.
