SOLD Antique Commode, Antique Dresser, Victorian Oak Commode w/ Mirror
This Antique Oak Commode with bevel glass mirror dates from the 1890’s to 1900’s, in original condition. It shows some age; one door has a couple small cracks in the panel, which is not structural. The construction of this type of oak always showed the flaws and imperfections, which is part of the aesthetic. The carvings are intact, original hardware is intact, and the original bevel glass mirror is intact, showing age streaks.
They call this a hotel commode because underneath the mirror is a bar to hang your towels, put a pitcher and bowl on the top and you put a "slop jar" in the base. These were really popular in hotels as they replaced many pieces of furniture, and consolidated into one. The finish on the top shows where things sat on it over the years.
If you desire a full restoration, please contact us for a quote. Measuring 32 inches wide, 18 inches deep, 30.5 inches high to the top of the base, 40 inches high for the mirror and the total height is 70 inches tall. The mirror is 22 inches wide by 13 inches tall. This is a great antique.
