This little walnut carved sideboard was made by the famous furniture company Berkey & Gay back in the 1930s or ‘40s, in the Jacobean style. It’s typical of the furniture of the ‘30s, with plenty of different exotic veneers highlighted in its picture frame drawer front and paneled doors. It has all kinds of burl walnut veneer, and it’s in a medium walnut color. It has bulbous turned legs with carving, multiple turnings, cross-stretchers, notch molding on the base, beaded molding along the bottom of the doors and the top, and then notch molding above the doors and drawers. The drawers are dovetail, of course, and have the Berkey & Gay metal emblem inside. The two doors open to reveal a single pullout drawer on the left, and two pullout drawers on the left. The top has been re-sprayed to remove the nicks and scratches and reveal the beautiful grains. A wide ogee beveled edge top and a dainty backsplash finish off this lovely piece. The overall size is 68 inches wide, 23 inches deep, 36 inches to the base, and 37 inches high to the backsplash.
