Outstanding late Victorian carved oak hall tree dating from the 1890s, featuring an exceptional original finish, shapely carved lines, and a beautiful beveled glass mirror. This highly decorative and functional antique entry hall piece is crafted from richly figured tiger-sawn oak and retains its warm original antique finish.

The upper section features an elegant shaped beveled mirror surrounded by flowing carved oak scrollwork and fitted with cast metal hooks on all four sides for coats, hats, and accessories. A dramatic carved crest, sweeping curves, and organic Art Nouveau-influenced lines give this Victorian hall tree wonderful visual presence.

The oak itself is especially attractive, with beautiful tiger grain visible throughout the piece. Shapely carved arms, decorative cutouts, scrolling motifs, and the substantial carved crest demonstrate the level of craftsmanship found in better-quality late-19th-century hall furniture.

The lower section incorporates a lift-seat storage bench, providing a concealed interior compartment that is ideal for gloves, scarves, hats, or other entryway necessities. This combination of seating, storage, mirror, and hanging space makes the hall tree as functional today as it was when made more than 125 years ago.

The original antique finish is another major part of its appeal, preserving the rich color, patina, and character that cannot be replicated by a newly refinished piece.

A beautiful and highly decorative example of Victorian tiger oak furniture, combining practical everyday functionality with striking antique craftsmanship and tremendous display appeal.

Condition

Overall, this hall tree is in very nice original antique condition, retaining beautiful color and patina throughout. The structure remains solid, sturdy, and highly usable, with normal age-appropriate wear consistent with an antique dating from the 1890s.

There are a few scratches on the mirror glass, which are visible upon inspection and should be noted. Minor nicks, dings, and other evidence of normal use are also present as expected with a 125+ year-old piece of furniture.

The original finish has been preserved and displays the natural variation and character associated with genuine antique furniture. Please review all photographs closely, as they are an important part of the condition description and provide the best representation of the hall tree’s finish, mirror, hardware, and overall appearance.
