A handsome circa 1910 solid mahogany Empire-style round extension dining table with five original-style extension leaves, allowing this compact 48-inch round table to transform into an impressive banquet-size dining table approximately 100 inches long.

Constructed in solid mahogany, the table features a substantial two-piece pedestal base centered by a large cylindrical column. The base terminates in broad, dramatically curved scroll feet, giving the table the strong architectural profile associated with Empire-style furniture while also providing a sturdy foundation when fully extended.

The table includes five 10½-inch leaves, offering tremendous flexibility for both everyday dining and larger gatherings. Without the leaves, its 48-inch round form works beautifully as a traditional round dining or breakfast table. Add the leaves as needed to create a large antique extension dining table capable of accommodating considerably more guests.

The dark mahogany stain and well-used original finish give this table a wonderfully authentic antique appearance. Rather than having been refinished to look new, it retains the nicks, dings, scratches, finish wear, and variations acquired through more than a century of use — exactly the kind of character many collectors and decorators prefer in original-finish antique furniture.

Condition

The table retains its original dark mahogany-stained finish, which shows considerable evidence of age and use. There are numerous nicks, dings, scratches, finish imperfections, surface wear, and variations throughout.

Nothing is noted as structurally broken; rather, this is a well-used antique table with an honest, timeworn original finish. We would normally consider refinishing a table with this degree of surface wear, making this an excellent candidate for restoration or refinishing if a cleaner appearance is desired.

That said, many of our customers specifically prefer the authentic, well-used appearance of an antique that has not been refinished. For those who appreciate original surfaces and the character acquired through generations of use, the existing finish has considerable charm.
