Wonderful original set of six circa 1910 solid oak dining chairs, consisting of five side chairs and one matching armchair. The chairs retain their dark oak finish and have a substantial, handsome design highlighted by carved claw feet and solid oak construction.

Each chair features a shaped back, sturdy frame and carved front legs terminating in claw feet. Solid oak cross stretchers provide additional stability and give the chairs the substantial construction characteristic of quality dining furniture from this period.

The matching armchair has a broader 20” frame and complements the five side chairs beautifully, making this a complete and increasingly difficult-to-find antique dining set.

One of the nicest aspects of this set is its originality. The chairs retain their original finish, showing the rich, dark oak color developed over more than a century. The seat covers also appear to be original and have not been replaced. They remain usable, although buyers may wish to recover them depending upon preference.

Condition

Good original antique condition. The chairs are tight, sturdy and usable, showing minor nicks, dings, scratches and finish wear consistent with approximately 115 years of age and normal use.

The original seat coverings remain in place and are usable but show age and wear. They would be good candidates for recovering if the buyer prefers fresh upholstery while preserving the original covers beneath.

The set retains its original dark oak finish rather than having been stripped or refinished, an especially nice feature for buyers who appreciate original antique surfaces.
