This Victorian secretary desk is resplendent in burl walnut, with one of the most unusual options I have ever seen (and I’ve seen a lot of antiques). It has a swing on one side. I have owned tons of these in the past and I have never even seen one with a swing side. I am assuming it was in an office and was custom made…to be clear, the left side wing can be moved out! It is all original, from the finish right down to the wavy glass. This secretary desk has three adjustable shelves on the inside behind the wavy glass doors. It comes with keys, and the burl cylinder is all nice. The original hardware is all intact and the finish is original. Dating from the 1880s era, someone replaced the felt on the inside that is always worn, with a new dark green felt. When the burl cylinder roll of this secretary desk is opened, it exposes a simplistic double drawer interior with a pull-out writing surface. The left side swings out to easily access a workstation. It is really a nice original country cylinder desk. The overall size is 40 inches wide, 23 inches deep at the base, 32 inches high to the writing surface, 87 inches high overall. The depth of the bookcase top is 10 inches, and the height of the doors are 37 inches high. It is a great looking desk with a heavy crown molded top.
