We are pleased to offer this one-of-a-kind, bench-made solid mahogany swell front sideboard, crafted entirely by hand in the 1880s to 1890s. Unlike mass-produced furniture, this exquisite Chippendale-style sideboard was built as a single, artisanal piece. It features ball and claw cabriole legs, hand-cut dovetails, original Chippendale hardware, and a substantial weight that speaks to its exceptional quality.

This highly collectible sideboard was originally accompanied by a matching banquet table and a set of eight custom Chippendale ball and claw chairs, all handmade by T. Robinson & Sons - Makers of Montpelier, Vermont.

Key Features:

• Bench-Made Craftsmanship: Built as a one-off piece, rather than a mass-produced item.
• Solid Mahogany Construction: Heavy, durable, and beautifully aged.
• Chippendale Ball & Claw Cabriole Legs: Intricate carvings showcase superior craftsmanship.
• Curved Front Drawers: Two center drawers with a graceful curved front, while outer drawers mirror the door curvature.
• Original Chippendale Hardware: Retains its period-accurate brass handles and fittings.
• Hand-Cut Dovetails: A true mark of high-end 19th-century furniture.
• Dust Covers Between Drawers: High-quality construction ensures longevity.
• Early Repairs & History: A fascinating past—the original keys were lost long ago, and an early owner forcibly opened the drawers and doors, resulting in visible (but well-done) early repairs.
• Restoration Work: Two legs were previously damaged when dragged, but we have expertly repaired, refinished, and reinforced them.
• Locks & Keys: All but one door retain their original locks, and we provide working keys.
