We are pleased to be offering today this beautiful solid black walnut civil war era fancy carved oval white marble Victorian parlor stand that dates from the 1860’s to 1870’s. It came right out of a home in central Maine. It has been left in the original finish. This type of table was always glued up and manufactured with horsehide glue that crystalizes over the years as you can see in the photos. The joints where the dowels go into the fancy center post are loose, but we will tighten them prior to shipping. The solid black walnut oval table base is in the original patina. Somewhere along the line it was overcoated with varnish from probably 30 years ago. It has a bit of a sheen to it. The ogee bevel edge marble top sits upon a solid black walnut frame with four fancier than unusual, cut out cabriole legs that are all joined together with a fancy center column with a top and bottom finial. It retains the original castors. The marble shows spots of stains on it, which adds character. There are no cracks or chips. The overall size is 32 inches wide, 24 inches deep and 30 inches high. It is a great little table. Shipping in New England would be $185. Shipping outside New England can go as high as $300, so please contact us with your zip code to get an accurate price for your location.
