We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful example of Victoriana as displayed in this cast metal fancy carved mantle clock made by the Waterbury Clock Company back in the 1880s to 1890s. I grew up in an antique home with two of these sitting on the mantle. This is better than most clocks with the open escapement on the front, original hands and porcelain dial. The only negative on this clock is the plaque underneath that is usually decorated with three cupids and the paint is faded. I love that it shows the age. It comes with the original pendulum bob, but no key. Therefore, I am not sure if it would run or not. You are purchasing a decorator piece. The outside escapement and sweep hand are very unique. It has a torch on top with a floral arrangement then it goes down into a lot of scrolling and fleur-de-lis. Then it comes down with a big Victorian ladies face and sits on four cabriole style carved legs. I believe the finish is the original gold wash finish. The overall size is 8 inches wide, 7 inches deep and 15.5 inches high. It is heavy duty. Shipping is $24 within the continental USA.
